Marple Bridge

A new large drive (at the front of the property), side garden and redesign of all the hard landscaping and adjacent borders was required to rework the dynamics of the gardens, which were separated from the house by a tarmac drive that lead into, down the side and straight past all the windows at the back of the building to the garage, under the main living area, but at ground level at the rear. The garage was converted into a new living room overlooking the back garden.

The paving softened the house brick and combined with drive setts chosen to cope with the steep drop across the front of the house and steeper gradient down the side.

The hard landscaping was complemented by new planting with a wild, informal feel that would look particularly effective from mid-summer to mid- autumn and take over from the existing borders’ early seasonal interest.

Three large, steel pergolas were also designed by us to tie the top floor balcony and terrace’s balustrade into the new garden and help provide unique plant supports for large climbers, including a wisteria that now twists through the balustrade (outside one of the bedrooms), having made its way up and across the bespoke framework.
